Is Narcissus Poisonous to Cats and Dogs?


The Narcissus is poisonous for both cats and dogs.

Typical symptoms include abdominal pain, cardiac arrhythmias, diarrhea, drooling, large ingestions cause convulsions, low blood pressure, nausea, tremors, salvation and vomiting.

Narcissus are perennial plants that have white or yellow flowers with six petal-like tepals surmounted by cup shaped corona.  They belong to the amaryllis family, Amaryllidaceae and also known for names such as jonquil and daffodil.

The scientific name for this plant is Narcissus spp. Additional name for this plant include Daffodil, Jonquil, Morning Glory, Narcissus and Paper White.
