Sweet pea is a perennial herbaceous vine that requires loam or clay-loam soil and partial to full sun to thrive. They can grow up to 6 ft and might be very difficult and pervasive to remove in gardens. This plant belongs to the Pea Family Fabaceae and native to Europe.

The scientific name for this plant is Lathyrus latifolius. Additional names for this plant include Broad-leaved Everlasting Pea, Perennial Pea and Sweet Pea.
