Is Apricot Poisonous to Cats and Dogs?


The Apricot is poisonous for both cats and dogs.

Typical symptoms include dilated pupils, difficulty breathing, excessive panting, vomiting, shock, and red mucous membranes in the mouth.

The apricot is a species of Prunus, classified with the plum in the subgenus Prunus. It is grown in many countries and has escaped into the wild in many places. The origin of the species is somewhat uncertain due to its extensive prehistoric cultivation. It was known in Armenia during ancient times. 

The scientific name for this plant is Prunus armeniaca. Additional name for this plant include Ansu Apricot, Armenian Plum, Cherry, Peach, Plum, Siberian Apricot, and Tibetan Apricot.
