Bead Tree is a deciduous tree in the mahogany family Meliaceae. They are native to Indomalaya and Australasia and feature alternate, long-petioled leaves, small fragrant flowers, marble sized fruit. It is considered poisonous to humans as ingestion of its fruit could lead to death after about 24 hours.

The scientific name for this plant is Melia azedarach. Additional name for this plant include Cape Lilac, Chinaberry Tree, China Ball Tree, Indian Lilac, Japanese Bead Tree, Paradise Tree, Persian Lilac, Pride-of-India, Syringa Berrytree, Texas Umbrella Tree and White Cedar.
