Carnation is a perennial plant that could grow up to 80 cm. It is widely cultivated because of their beautiful flowers. The carnation flowers are sweet scented with natural pinkish purple color. However, cultivars grow them in other colors such as white, yellow, green, blue and red with a few striped color variations.

The scientific name for this plant is Dianthus caryophyllus. Additional name for this plant include Clove Pink, Pinks, Sweet William and Wild Carnation.
