The Cycads is poisonous for both cats and dogs.

Typical symptoms include abdominal pain, bruising, dark stools, death, diarrhea, jaundice, increased thirst, liver failure and vomiting.

Cycads are sometimes mistaken for palms or ferns because of their resemblance. It is a  seed plant with a very long fossil history. Some of its specimens are known to be as much as 1,000 years old since they live very long. They usually have pinnate leaves and stout and woody trunks.

The scientific name for this plant is Cycas and Zamia species. Additional name for this plant include Fern Palm, Japanese Funeral Palm, King Sago, King Sago Palm, Palm Cycad and Sago Palm.
