The Fern Palm is poisonous for both cats and dogs.

Typical symptoms include abdominal pain, bruising, dark stools, death, diarrhea, jaundice, increased thirst, liver failure and vomiting.

Fern Palm is a deciduous shrub with aerial or subterranean circular stem. They are native to Mexico, the West Indies, and Central and South America as far south as Bolivia and feature pinnate leaves and broad artificial leaflets.

The scientific name for this plant is Zamia spp.. Additional name for this plant include Cardboard Plant, Cardboard Sago, Cycads, Jamaican Sago, Mexican Cycad and Sago Palm.
