Giant Hogweed is the sole member of genus Heracleum in the Apiaceae. They are herbaceous plants that could reach 7 ft tall and the where the Heracleum (from Heracles) is derived because of the large size of all parts. They are characterized with flower umbles, large leaves that are divided into lobes and succulent stems.

The scientific name for this plant is Heracleum maximum. Additional name for this plant include Cow-Parsnip, Cow Parsnip, Giant Hogweed, Indian Celery, Indian Rhubarb and Pushki.
