The Hellebore is poisonous for both cats and dogs.

Typical symptoms include abdominal pain, colic, depression, diarrhea, drooling, excessive drooling and lethargy.

Helleborus is an evergreen perennial flowering plant that is commonly called as Christmas rose.  Though its flowers may resemble the wild rose flower, it doesn’t belong to the rose family. It belongs to the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae.

The scientific name for this plant is Helleborus niger. Additional name for this plant include Black Hellebore, Christmas rose, Eastern Rose and Lenten Rose.
