Lemon verbena is a perennial shrub or subshrub in the verbena family Verbenaceae originated from South America. It came from Europe by the Portuguese and Spanish in the 17th century and was cultivated for its oil.  It grows 6.6–9.8 ft high, leaves are glossy and pointed which are slightly rough to touch and emit a strong lemon scent.

The scientific name for this plant is Aloysia triphylla. Additional name for this plant include Lemon Verbena and Lemon Beebrush.
