The Mother-in-Law plant is poisonous for both cats and dogs.

Typical symptoms include difficulty swallowing, foaming of the mouth, hoarseness, intense burning and irritation of mouth, tongue and lips, excessive drooling, low energy, oral irritation and vomiting.

The Mother-in-law plant  has become a mildly invasive species in  Seychelles, Society Islands, Hawaii and Seychelles. This is a flowering plant originating from  southern Mexico, south to Panama. Its scientific name Monstera deliciosa, deliciosa means delicious, and monstera means monstrous because of its size that can grow over 30 ft.

The scientific name for this plant is Monstera deliciosa. Additional name for this plant include Ceriman, Cutleaf Philodendron, Delicious Monster, Hurricane Plant, Mexican Breadfruit, Monstera, Split-leaf Philodendron, Swiss Cheese Plant and Window Leaf Plant.
