Spindle tree comes from the  species of shrub in the bittersweet family. It is mostly found in the Midwestern United States. It has poisonous fruits but is eaten by several species of birds. Spindle tree is commonly known as eastern wahoo, American wahoo and hearts bursting with love.

The scientific name for this plant is Euonymus atropurpurea. Additional name for this plant include Burning Bush, Eastern Wahoo, Indian Arrow Wood, and Wahoo.
