The Starleaf is poisonous for both cats and dogs.

Typical symptoms include ataxia, depression, diarrhea, loss of appetite and vomiting.

Starleaf evergreen tree growing to 49 ft tall from the family Araliaceae. It originated from tropical rainforest in northern and north-eastern Queensland of Australia, as well as Java and New Guinea.  It blooms around early summer and typically continues for several months.  The flowers develop at the top of the tree with racemes of 6.5 ft long that contain up to 1, 000 small red flowers. Also known as Queensland umbrella tree,  Australia umbrella tree, amate and octopus tree.

The scientific name for this plant is Brassaia actinophylla. Additional name for this plant include Amate, Australian Ivy Palm, Australian Umbrella Tree, Octopus Tree, Queensland Umbrella Tree, Schefflera and Umbrella Tree.
