Is Wax-Leaf Poisonous to Cats and Dogs?

The Wax-Leaf is poisonous for both cats and dogs.

Typical symptoms include death, diarrhea, gastrointestinal upset, increased heart rate, incoordination, refusal of food and vomiting.

Wax-Leaf is an evergreen plant that is characterized by its  glossy, dark green leaves, pale smooth grey-brown barks on the stem and white flowers.  That are native  native to central and southern Japan and Korea.  It commonly grown as ornamental plant for homes and gardens.

The scientific name for this plant is Ligustrum japonicum. Additional name for this plant include Amur, Common Privet, Japanese Privet and Privet.
