The Yew Pine is poisonous for both cats and dogs.

Typical symptoms include diarrhea, enlarged pupil, seizures, tremors, and vomiting.

Yew Pine belongs to the Podocarpus genus, Podocarpaceae family.  It is an evergreen conifer that has strap shared leaves and ellipsoidal fruits. Its cones grow from a short team and features soft textured, leathery and yew like needles. It is native to southern Japan and southern and eastern China and is also called as Buddhist pine and fern pine.

The scientific name for this plant is Podocarpus macrophylla. Additional name for this plant include Buddhist Pine, Fern Pine, Japanese Yew, Spodocarpus, Outhern Yew, Yew Plum, Yew Podocarpus, and Pine.
