Is Yucca Poisonous to Cats and Dogs?


The Yucca is poisonous for both cats and dogs.

Typical symptoms include dilated pupils, drooling, incoordination, vomiting and weakness.

Yucca is a perennial shrub and trees native to the hot and dry parts of the Americas and the Caribbean. They are known for their sword-shaped, tough and evergreen leaves and large terminal panicles of white or whitish flowers. This genus belongs to the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Agavoideae.

The scientific name for this plant is Yucca spp. Additional name for this plant include Cassava, Cui, Mandioca, Maniot, Manioc, Pari, Quivá,Yuca Amarga and Yuca Brava.
